Prescott Police respond to aggressive Coyote encounters in Prescott Lakes neighborhood

Sunday morning, Prescott Police responded to the area of Prescott Lakes Subdivision off of Smoketree Lane regarding a report of a coyote that had attacked a resident while she was walking her dog. Lt. Corey Kasun says it was determined that residents in the area had experienced four separate encounters with the same aggressive coyote. Three encounters resulted in the animal nipping at the victims lower extremities and one victim, a 62-year old female, was bitten on the lower calf while walking her dog. She was treated at YRMC for minor injuries and possible rabies exposure. Kasun says Game and Fish assisted with Prescott Animal Control to attempt to locate the animal. At this time, the coyote has not been located. Residents in the area are asked to be on the lookout for any wild animals acting unusual or aggressive.
