DPS and Copper Canyon Fire responded to a three vehicle crash with one fatality Wednesday afternoon. DPS says a semi headed northbound on I-17 lost his brakes and tried to exit at Highway-260. In the process of turning right at the junction, the semi tipped over, crushing two eastbound vehicles. The passenger in one vehicle, 79-year old Antonio Mejia-Donto of Camp Verde was pronounced dead on scene. The others injured in the crash were taken by air or ground to hospitals for treatment of their injuries. The semi was hauling steel plates.
