Sunday afternoon, Summit Fire responded to Humphreys Trail near Flagstaff regarding a stranded hiker suffering from extreme cramping about 3-miles up the trail. Due to wet conditions and dropping temperatures, the concern for hypothermia began to grow. Coconino County Search and Rescue assisted with locating and removing the hiker from the trail. Crews provided the hiker with warmer clothing before being loaded up in a stokes basket and transported off the trail and then to FMC for treatment. As temperatures cool, it’s important to bring the proper clothing and essentials when recreating outside. Always bring a fully charged cell phone and tell someone where you’re going and when you’ll be back.
