Prescott National Forest will implement a Camping and Motor Vehicle Use closure for the area near Perkinsville Bridge starting October 3-rd. Spokesperson Debbie Maneely says over the past few years, dispersed camping in the areas and high use has caused significant resource damage to soil and water quality; as well as abandoned property, trash and sanitation issues. The area is also subject to flash flooding potential and is critical habitat for both threatened & endangered species. Maneely says the area will be closed to camping and vehicle use for 2-years. A similar closure was put in place along Highway-260 between Cottonwood and Camp Verde for the same reasons.
