Three roads re-open in Mangum Fire area

Kaibab National Forest officials say some roads affected by flash flooding are reopening in the Mangum Fire area. Forest Roads 22, 461 and 462 are now fully open but remain subject to closure during periods of inclement weather. Officials say Forest Road 422A is washed out and impassable at Jacob Canyon and Forest Road 22 is fully open but Forest Road 423 is closed where it begins along 22. Visit the forest website for current conditions.

  1. Good morning! This is Matt Switzer, the Public Affairs Specialist with the North Kaibab Ranger District of the Kaibab National Forest. Thank you for posting this out – communication with the public on the stories and conditions of the Forest is of paramount importance to us here on the Kaibab, and we all greatly appreciate your part in helping us pass on information to the public.

Quick correction on the above article – the second to last sentence reads “and Forest Road 423 and 22 remain closed”.

It should read “and Forest Road 423 at Forest Road 22” – the 22 is fully open now, but 423 is closed where it begins along 22.

Thanks for your attention on this – I greatly appreciate it!
