The Red Rock Ranger District of the Coconino National Forest and HistoriCorps are looking for volunteers to help work on Crescent Moon Ranch. Volunteers are needed from September 19-th through October 8-th and from October 24-th through the 29-th. The project involves cedar shingle and corrugated metal roofing; repair of stone foundation, stairs and walls; siding repair, and reconstruction of other structural components. Crescent Moon Ranch is located on Oak Creek about 7-miles southwest of Sedona. Restoration of several historic structures is the third HistoriCorps project on the forest this year.
HistoriCorps projects are free for volunteers who register for the 5-day sessions. All meals, tools, training, equipment, and a campsite are provided. Volunteers are responsible for their own transportation to the campsite, sleeping equipment, work clothes and boots, and other personal gear. To sign up and volunteer for this project, please visit the Crescent Moon Ranch Project page.
HistoriCorps helps preserve historic structures on public lands across America and attracts folks with a love of adventuring to new places, waking up to the smell of hot coffee, going to sleep under the stars, meeting new friends while connecting with and contributing to the incredible and unique landscapes that have sustained communities for hundreds of years.
Additional Historicorps projects are also scheduled this fall on the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests in eastern Arizona.
