Coconino National Forest has started the Midway project of the longer ongoing Flagstaff Watershed Protection Project. Officials say the goal is to move slash from the previous steep slope project to a designated area near Schultz Pass for future pile burning. Contractors will be operating large trucks and heavy equipment during the slash removal process in several areas, including along Little Gnarly Trail, through Schultz Loop and near the Sunset trailhead. The work will continue through next March.
