The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of a stranded hiker in Sycamore Canyon Monday evening. The adult male and female hikers had started at the Sycamore Falls trail head parking area and hiked along the rim before leaving the trail to hike into the canyon. On their way back they became lost. Search and Rescue responded and conducted a technical rope rescue to bring the hikers to safety. The hikers called for help shortly after 6-pm; the rescue wasn’t over until midnight.
