Summer runoff much better than last winters runoff

(Thanks to AP) SRP says monsoon water flows into the utility’s reservoirs on the Salt and Verde Rivers this year have topped the amount of winter runoff earlier this year. The estimated monsoon flows so far this summer are at 125,000 acre-feet, well above the 103,000 acre-feet of water that flowed into the reservoirs between January 1-st and May 31-st. An acre-foot of water covers an acre of land with 1-foot of water. Spokesperson Patty Garcia-Likens says most of each year’s inflows into the reservoirs usually come from snow-melt, but this year’s monsoon has been active and productive.
