The National Weather Service in Flagstaff says showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon over higher terrain of the Mogollon Rim and White Mountains, moving toward the southwest into Yavapai and Gila counties during the mid to late afternoon and possibly lingering through the late night hours. A Flash Flood Watch is in place until 2-AM Saturday for Yavapai & Gila counties, and Oak Creek and Sycamore Canyons. Officials say rainfall rates of 1-2 inches are possible with the stronger storms.
