The BAER Team completed the post-fire assessment on the Rafael Fire, which has resulted in a reduction in the closure area. People and communities near and downstream from the burned area should remain alert and stay updated on weather conditions that may result in heavy rains over the burn scars. Flash flooding may occur quickly during heavy rain events so be prepared to take action. The lightning caused fire charred just over 78,000 acres in July.
