Coconino, Kaibab and Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests reopen under Stage-2 Fire Restrictions

The Coconino, Kaibab, and Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests are once again open to the public, but with Stage-2 Fire Restrictions in place. Over the next few days, personnel will be removing gates, locks and barriers. The decision to reopen the forests was made based on the amount of recent rainfall that occurred. While the forest-wide closures have been lifted, specific closures around active wildfires, such as the Rafael Fire, Backbone Fire, Slate Fire and Snake Fire, are still in effect. Fire danger remains extreme. Coconino County is also back under Stage 2 Restrictions.
