Gunsights Fire burning northwest of Chino Valley update–7/2/21

Firefighters responded to the Gunsights Fire 12-miles northwest of Chino Valley Thursday. Arizona State Forestry officials say night operations continued with crews building direct hand lines to reinforce retardant drops. Today, crews continue that work and will begin mopping up along the fire’s edge. Officials are cautious of potential afternoon thunderstorms and winds affecting the area. The fire had burned an estimated 120-acres and is 0% contained.
