Goat Fire 50% contained/Acreage reduced to 28

Saturday, Prescott National Forest firefighters responded to smoke reports on the Verde Ranger District. Spokesperson Debbie Maneely says the Goat Fire is burning west of Highway-260 and north of Cherry and is now 50% contained. She says Sunday morning crews, along with the help of a helicopter, were able to reach the fire and begin containment of it. Last night the burn area was flown and the acreage was dropped to 28. Maneely says the fire was human caused. She says the fire poses no threat to life or property.
