Central Arizona Fire responds to kitchen fire in Prescott Valley

Central Arizona Fire responded to a kitchen fire in an upstairs apartment on Yavapai Road in Prescott Valley on Wednesday afternoon. Arriving crews found smoke coming out of the front door and the four residents standing outside. Officials say a resident had accidentally left oil heating up in a skillet, unattended. Once the fire started, the resident immediately got his wife and two children to safety. He then used a fire extinguisher to put out the blaze as it was extending into the cabinets above the stove. Crews investigated and found the fire to be out and checked for extension into the wall and cabinets. Crews also removed residual smoke from the apartment. No injuries were reported.
