Highlands Fire responded to a small fire in the 500-block of Kiowa in Mountainaire this morning. Captain Brian Katrales says the fire was reported by neighbors. He says crews arrived and took immediate control of the 1/10-th of an acre fire. Forward progress on the fire was quickly contained within 15-minutes after the other engines arrived on scene. Katrales says an engine remained on scene to monitor the area. The public is reminded that much of the state is still under Stage-1 fire restrictions, which prohibits all open fires outside of designated campgrounds. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
