Wednesday afternoon, Cottonwood Police were conducting interdiction operations in the area of I-17 and Highway-169. Sgt. Chad Sinn says officers stopped 35-year old Fidel Rivera-Leon of Buckeye for a criminal traffic violation. K-9 Kratos was deployed following the arrest to conduct a narcotics sniff where he alerted on the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed 3 lbs. 3 oz. of black tar heroin in addition to a usable amount of marijuana. Sinn says Rivera-Leon was booked on multiple drug charges. The estimated street value off the heroin was $221,000. The investigation continues.
