Village of Oak Creek man steals van and sets fires

A Village of Oak Creek man has been charged with stealing a vehicle and setting several small fires. YCSO spokesman Dwight D’Evelyn says Monday morning deputies responded to the report of a van stolen from Circle-K in the Village of Oak Creek; an employee had started the van to let it warm up and when he returned it was gone. D’Evelyn says security video showed the van headed towards Sedona. CUT #62..Q:..stole the van..:27 (A YCSO deputy spotted the van being driven through the parking lot of the Hillside Sedona Shopping Center. Assisted by an officer from Sedona Police, the deputy stopped the van and detained the driver, 31-year old MacKenzie Boswell from the Village of Oak Creek. During a search of Boswell, the deputy found nearly $300 in his pocket which was later determined stolen from the van. MacKenzie eventually admitted he stole the van.) D’Evelyn says at the same time, other deputies responded to several small fires burning on Vista Mesa Drive in the Village of Oak Creek that had been intentionally set. The investigation determined MacKenzie lit the fires with a propane torch that he stole and was found at the fires. Several other stolen items were also recovered.
