Deer Fire at 335 acres with zero containment

The Deer Fire on the Apache Sitgreaves National Forests grew to 335-acres Monday. Forest officials say the lightning caused fire is zero percent contained. Crews are focusing on protecting assets in the burn area, which is located in the 2011 Wallow Fire burn scar. Construction of containment lines from Luce Ranch, west to Forest Road 8882 and from the fires’ southern edge, south to Forest Road 58H began Monday and will continue until finished. The fire will then be allowed to burn in the interior.
