Coconino National Forest has issued an updated closure order in the Flagstaff Watershed Protection Project area, which includes Dry Lake Hills and a large portion of Mount Elden. A closure was first issued last month in order to keep the public safe from forest harvesting operations. A section of the Forest Road 420 is now open to provide access to the Fort Valley Trail System via Chimney Trail. Also, Forest Road-743 will be open to the Waterline and Weatherford Trails. Trail users should check the Coconino National Forest website to see a map of the closure area. The entire thinning project should be finished in April.
