Cottonwood man charged with furnishing harmful items to a minor

A Cottonwood man is in jail for sending inappropriate pictures of himself to a 16-year old girl. Cottonwood Police Sgt. Monica Kuhlt says the suspect in this case was identified as 28-year old Joshua Hillyard.  The 16-year old victim reported to her School Safety Officer that she received unsolicited and inappropriate pictures and messages from Hillyard who is known to her. They met through an outreach program where he was a mentor. During questioning, Hillyard told investigators he knew her age but thought the age of consent in Arizona was 16 because that’s the law in Montana. Hillyard is on probation out of Montana and Wyoming but had his probations transferred to Arizona. He’s on probation for burglary, fraud and sale of dangerous drugs. He was charged with furnishing harmful materials to a minor.
