Swift Water team rescues person stranded in the Verde River

Saturday night, Copper Canyon Fire and Medical responded to a report of a person needing to be rescued from high waters on the Verde River. Crews arrived and made voice contact with the stranded person standing on an island surrounded by rapid moving water. The Swift Water Team was then deployed and the stranded person was brought to safety; the person was uninjured. The public is reminded to not cross flooded waterways and low water crossings. This is the second swift water rescue in a week. A person driving over a low water crossing on Oak Creek last week had to be rescued when they and their vehicle were carried away by fast moving water.
