A series of crashes and heavy traffic resulted in long delays and closures on both northbound and southbound I-17 Saturday. DPS says 4 crashes between 9-am and 2-pm on northbound I-17 kept traffic from clearing up during the day. The crashes occurred between New River and Sunset Point Rest Area. A minor crash southbound on the same day had the same affect, causing traffic to backup for miles. DPS says no major injuries were reported in any of the crashes.
