New YCSO K9 and handler make major drug bust in Cordes Lakes

A traffic stop this week in Cordes Lakes resulted in a sizeable drug bust for a new K9 unit. YCSO spokesman Dwight D’Evelyn says the deputy stopped 44-year old Todd Worthen for failing to stop for a stop sign.  Worthen was unable to produce a driver’s license, and the New Mexico identification information he gave the deputy came back with no results. The deputy did find a driving record in Arizona, which showed a Todd Worthen with a revoked driver’s license. D’Evelyn says Worthen denied consent to search his vehicle at which time “Haddie” was brought in to check the vehicle for drugs. “Haddie” alerted to the vehicle and 6-pounds of meth were found along with Worthen’s license in a backpack. He was jailed on felony charges.
