Verde Connect Project moving forward

Yavapai County is currently moving forward with the next step in making the Verde Connector Project a reality. The project calls for a bridge over the Verde River with a road that connects Highway-260 with eventually Cornville Road. The county received a $25-million grant in December for the bridge. County Supervisor Tom Thurman says they’re currently narrowing down routes for the road. Thurman says a study group has narrowed the list of potential routes for the road to 4 or 5. He says public meetings will be held, possibly in late February, to gather public feedback on the routes after which the NEPA process can begin. The county has until September 2020 to have a firm plan in place and until 2025 to use the grant money. More information can be found at www.verdeconnect.com
