Recently, a Prescott man was arrested for Sexual Abuse of a minor. YCSO Spokesman Dwight D’Evelyn says detectives interviewed a female victim after she disclosed the sex offense to a family member who contacted the Sheriff’s Office. Officers learned that 23-year old Lawton Thompson rented a room in a Prescott home belonging to the victim’s father. D’Evelyn says in mid-December, Thompson, who was apparently intoxicated at the time, approached the victim and initiated sexual contact inside a room in the home. When the victim tried to pull away, Thompson restrained her and continued his illicit actions, only stopping when interrupted by someone knocking at the door. The victim was able to escape at that time. Thompson later approached the victim and offered her drugs and money if she would not disclose what he had done. Thompson was charged with Transfer/Sales of Marijuana, Involving a Minor in a Drug Offense, Sexual Abuse of a minor under 15, Molestation of a Child and Kidnapping. He remains in-custody on a $150,000 bond.
