ADOT wants to remind motorists that Arizona’s move over law requires that drivers move over one lane when there is a vehicle with flashing lights on the side of the road. This includes emergency vehicles, tow trucks, or vehicles flashing their hazards. Officials say this law exists to create a safe distance and reduce both injuries and fatalities for those assisting others. In addition, if an emergency vehicle is approaching from behind, motorists must move with traffic and pull as far right as possible to allow the emergency vehicle ample space to pass safely. Officials say following these guidelines helps to keep everyone safe.
