Chain link fence proposed for Slide Rock area in Oak Creek Canyon.

Coconino National Forest’s Red Rock Ranger District is seeking public comment on a proposal by Arizona State Parks and Trails to install a six-foot-tall chain-linked fence 1,650 feet in length and a functioning guardrails on Slide Rock State Park’s permitted portion of Highway 89A.The intent is to install a fence to deter visitors from parking and walking along state Route 89A and replace failing post-and-cable fencing with guardrails. Comments must be received by December 10th and can be emailed, mailed or delivered in person.
