Cottonwood Police responded to the 700 block of East Mingus Avenue this morning around 8:30 for a suspicious object or item. Sgt. Monica Kuhlt says the object turned out to be a “soda bottle bomb”. Cottonwood Fire and Medical were also called to the scene to assist. Kuhlt says there were two of these 2 liter bottle type explosive devices; one had been detonated, the other had not. Kuhlt says even though one of these rudimentary makeshift bombs went off it did not cause any damage. Fire crew on scene “detonated” the device and it was seized as evidence. Kuhlt says details are being withheld on the contents of the soda bottle bomb at this time due to the ongoing investigation. Anyone with information related to this investigation is asked to contact Cottonwood Police or Yavapai Silent Witness.
