One of two suspects wanted in defrauding a Dewey-Humboldt woman out of $30,000 has been captured

One of two suspects wanted in connection with defrauding a Dewey-Humboldt woman out of $30,000 has been arrested. YCSO spokesman Dwight D’Evelyn says 45-year old Daniel Miller was arrested in Flagstaff Wednesday on charges of fraud schemes and theft. He remains in-custody on a $50,000 bond. When arrested, Miller denied any involvement. After the detective noted Miller was wearing the same shirt seen in the bank video, he admitted cashing the victim’s check for another person whom he did not identify. D’Evelyn says Miller has not cooperated with investigators and they continue to ask for the public’s help. In July, Miller and the second man approached the 84-year old woman who had been on vacation and told her there was an emergency while she was gone and her septic system had to be replaced at a cost of $67,000. The woman paid the men $30,000 before she realized no work had been done.
