According to health officials, prescription drug abuse has reached epidemic proportions. Last year in Arizona 932 people died from an opioid overdose. And prescription drug abuse is a leading factor in those deaths. To help prevent such abuse, MATFORCE is hosting Dump the Drugs Events throughout our area this Saturday, between 10 and 2. Unwanted prescription and over the counter medications can be disposed of at one of nine locations throughout the county, including Police stations in Cottonwood, Sedona, Clarkdale, Prescott, Prescott Valley and Chino Valley; the Camp Verde Marshal’s Office and the YCSO substation in Mayer. Residents are encouraged to take part in this event to keep dangerous drugs out of the hands of unsuspecting children, experimenting teenagers, unauthorized adults and criminals.
