Central Arizona Fire and Medical honors five citizens who saved five lives.

Monday evening, Central Arizona Fire and Medical held a ceremony to recognize five citizens who disregarded their own personal safety to save others. Mikayla Baker and Ethan Hutchinson saved a man who was brutally attacked on September 8th at a remote camp site near Drake. They provided immediate aid, contacted 911, and evacuated the patient to the nearest major roadway for air transport to a trauma facility. According to the deputies that responded, it is unlikely the man would have lived without their intervention. On August 30th, Alisa Lester, Jay Ortenzo and Bill Bailey stopped at the scene of a traffic crash on Highway 89 near Chino Valley that took the lives of three people. Despite the vehicles being on fire and having no way to battle the flames, Jay and Bill worked to pull four people from the wreckage. Alisa cared for the three children pulled from one of the vehicles and prevented them from running back towards the scene. The five were each presented with a commemorative plaque.
