Friday morning, YCSO deputies responded to the 13000 block of Dandrea Drive in Pine Flats, outside of Mayer, regarding a burglary. Spokesman Dwight D’Evelyn says the victim, who was not home at the time, learned from neighbors that unidentified suspects burglarized his home around midnight by breaking a window and then gave a description of the suspect vehicle. D’Evelyn says the victim relayed that he spotted a black truck parked on the side of County Road 177, 9 miles from the Mayer cemetery, and currently occupied by a man with bandages on his arms. Deputies arrived detained suspect without incident and identified as 35-year-old Jacob Mechetner from Goodyear. Mechetner admitted to breaking into the victim’s home, cutting his hand on a broken window, and remaining inside for a couple of hours. Mechetner acknowledged taking cash and tools and that he was in possession of methamphetamine. He was booked into the Camp Verde Jail. D’Evelyn says residents who are away from their home for an extended period of time should let neighbors know so they watch the property.
