ADOT says Highway 89A in Oak Creek Canyon was closed this morning due to several rock slides in the switchbacks. Traffic is being turned around in both directions while crews remove some large fallen rocks. Spokesman Ryan Harding says Slide Rock State Park received a lot of sediment and debris across the highway last night and crews are continuing to clean that up. Drivers can still access the park, but crews will be stopping traffic off and on for equipment to clear the roadway. Harding says crews will be working throughout the day to clean up the highway in the switchbacks and anticipate 89A should be completely open by the end of the day.
