YCSO is asking for the public’s help in locating two men that scammed an 84-year old Dewey-Humboldt woman out of more than $30,000. Spokesman Dwight D’Evelyn says the victim returned home from a trip in July and was greeted by two men that claimed there was an emergency and they had to replace her entire septic system at a cost of $67,000. They told her she could make payments and suggested going to the bank to obtain what cash she could. Under duress, she agreed and they followed her to a Prescott area bank while they waited across the street. The 84-year-victim withdrew $12,500, went across the street and surrendered the cash to the suspects. The next day the men convinced the woman to give them another $17,000. The woman then received a call from a Flagstaff bank asking if they should cash the check, which she said yes too. D’Evelyn says it was after that, that the woman realized no work had been done in her yard. Photos of the suspects and the suspect vehicle are posted on our website at myradioplace.com. He says one suspect is 45-year old Daniel Miller; a transient possible living in the Flagstaff area. The second suspect is not known. The truck is a black 2012-2014 Ford F150 4 door.
