The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal crash that occurred Friday night on Ashurst Lake Road, just off Lake Mary Road near Flagstaff. Officials say reports indicated that a white pickup had gone off the road striking a tree on the driver’s side of the vehicle near the back-passenger door area, and that all four occupants were injured. Crews arrived to find the passenger riding behind the driver had sustained traumatic injuries from the vehicle’s impact with the tree. The victim, 19-year old Justin Denault of California, was flown to FMC where he was pronounced dead. Denault’s body was then taken to the Coconino County Medical Examiner’s Office for further investigation. The other three occupants of the vehicle suffered lesser injuries. The investigation continues.
