Kaibab prescribed burns creating smoke in the area.

Kaibab National Forest fire managers have begun working on a range of fall prescribed burn projects. Yesterday ignitions started on the 12,000 acre Sunflower burn, southeast of Williams. Smoke from this fire was seen throughout the Verde Valley late yesterday afternoon and this morning. Crews will also be conducting the 7,500 acre Green burn, north of Williams; the 3,200 acre Reed burn, south and northeast of Tusayan and the 4,000 acre Russell burn, southeast of Tusayan. Each burn is dependent upon the weather.
