Shortly before 10 am this morning, both Cottonwood Police and Fire responded to the 900 block of Tierra Verde Circle for an aircraft that had crashed into a residence. Sgt. Monica Kuhlt says first responders found the single engine Bonanza Beechcraft fully involved in flames.The pilot, a 70 year-old local male, self-extricated but suffered serious injury. The patient was flown to Maricopa Burn Center for advanced medical care. The fire was extinguished but the airplane is a total loss.The residence suffered minimal structural damage. The cause of the crash is unknown at this time but the pilot stated on scene that his engine had stopped. Several streets in the immediate area were closed during the incident.
