DPS responded to a motorcycle accident this morning on I-17 just south of Camp Verde. Spokesman Quentin Mehr says a motorcycle, driven by a 46-year-old male with a 27-year-old female passenger, both of Mesa, were southbound when they struck a deer. After striking the deer, the driver lost control of the motorcycle and both he and his passenger where thrown off. They were airlifted to a Phoenix area hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Mehr says neither of them were wearing helmets at the time of the collision. Southbound I-17 was down to one lane while emergency crews were on scene.
