Abandoned campfires causing wildfires

Although our monsoon has been generous this year, some areas of the forests are still able to burn. Coconino National Forest officials say they’ve had a couple of abandoned campfires escape their rings this week and start fires. The public is reminded to make sure their campfire is dead out before leaving it alone, for any period of time. Water and dirt should be stirred into the fire until it is no longer warm to the back of your hand. The public is also reminded to take their trash with them.
