4 fires on the Coconino National Forest

There are currently 4 fires being handled on the Coconino National Forest; all 4 were caused by lightning. Spokesman George Jozens says these fires will continue to create smoke, which will be visible during the day and impact some areas at night. He says in each case the fires are doing a great job of cleaning up the forest floor. The Seep Fire is north of Kendrick Park and Highway-180 and has treated 2,300-acres. The Platypus Fire is in the Red Rock Secret Mountain Wilderness near Sedona and has burned 9-acres. The 915-acre Bristow Fire is burning southeast of Munds Park and east of I-17 and the Deer Fire is southwest of CC Cragin Reservoir and has burned 800-acres with up to 1,800-acres available for treatment. Each of these fires is being monitored by ground crews with the exception of the Platypus Fire, which is being monitored by the air. The fire is burning in a steep canyon.
