Bear Fire being monitored near Young

Tonto National Forest crews are monitoring the Bear Fire, burning 10-miles southwest of Young. The fire was first spotted on Thursday and was caused by lightning. Officials say the fire has charred about 30-acres and is burning in an area previously burned by the 2003 Picture Fire and the 2012 Mistake Peak Fire. The blaze is being used for management purposes so smoke will be visible for several days if not weeks. Smoke will impact Young, Tonto Basin, Pumpkin Center and Roosevelt Lake.
