Flagstaff Police arrest a 21-year old resident on charges including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon

Thursday afternoon, Flagstaff Police Department responded to the area of North Center Street and East Johnson Avenue in reference to a report of a weapons violation. Sgt. Cory Runge says a witness pointed to a male with a large knife tucked in the front waistband of his pants. When the officer arrived the subject, 21-year old Byron Talashoma, of Flagstaff, walked away from him and discarded the knife. Runge says officers learned the subject had threatened another person in the area with the knife and hit another person in the face. Officers went to Talashoma’s home but he would not turn himself in. Runge says, after obtaining permission from another resident, officers eventually found Talashoma hiding in the attic and took him into custody after deploying chemical irritant. He was booked into Coconino County Jail.
