Husband claims he was only trying to scare wife with gun when he shot her

Saturday evening, YCSO deputies were dispatched to a domestic dispute on Antelope Drive, Seligman. Spokesman Dwight D’Evelyn says a 52-year old woman, reported that her husband, 59-year-old David Konie, had shot her in the left shoulder during an argument. YCSO deputies, assisted by troopers from the Department of Public Safety, arrived and David was taken into custody without incident. David claims the shooting was accidental as he was only trying to ‘scare’ his wife with the gun during a struggle. The firearm is a single action revolver requiring the hammer be pulled to the rear before firing.D’Evelyn says the woman was airlifted to a hospital in Las Vegas for treatment for non-life threatening injuries. He says Konie was booked into the Camp Verde Detention Center on charges of Attempted 2nd Degree Murder and Assault with Weapon. The case is still under active investigation.
