YCSO Deputies stayed busy during DUI Patrols over the holiday

Over the holiday weekend and into July 4th, a special YCSO DUI patrol resulted in 67 traffic stops and 12 DUI arrests which included 1 drug related DUI, 4 Extreme DUI’s, and 1 Super Extreme DUI. Spokesman Dwight D’Evelyn says noteworthy incidents include the Tuesday evening arrest of 33-year old David Sheedy of Prescott after a collision on Senator Highway in Prescott. Sheedy was driving a blue 2010 Ford Transit Connect Van which had collided head on into a guardrail. The van’s left front tire was found on top of the damaged guardrail with the van sustaining major front end damage. While speaking with Sheedy, deputies detected a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. He then failed subsequent field sobriety tests and admitted drinking numerous beers at a Prescott bar earlier. His on scene BAC was recorded at .21 – well over twice the legal limit.  D’Evelyn says Sheedy also testing positive for marijuana. Another arrest was for Super Extreme DUI when 47-year-old Julie Hegedus from Prescott Valley was stopped after being see driving erratically and into oncoming traffic on Victor Drive. D’Evelyn says during a breath test at the jail, Hegedus was documented with a reading of .35 – more than 4 times the legal limit.
