Tuesday evening, Cottonwood police responded to 700 block of N. Main Street for an argument between neighbors that turned violent. Sgt. Monica Kuhlt says the 911 call from the victim said that 56-year-old Jeffrey Montgomery was outside of his residence threatening to shoot him with a gun. Kuhlt says officers arrived on scene to find Montgomery approaching the victim’s residence with a straight blade knife in his hand. When he saw the police he tried to hide the knife behind a shed. Kuhlt says the altercation began when the victim asked Montgomery to quiet down outside and a fight ensued. Then Montgomery told the victim he was going to come back and shoot him. Kuhlt says Montgomery then returned to the victim’s residence carrying a knife. Montgomery was arrested and charged with felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and booked into jail.
