Wednesday morning, Flagstaff Fire was dispatched to a report of a possible home on fire in the Cheshire neighborhood in Flagstaff. Officials say a large column of black smoke was visible from the other side of town. Crews arrived and found the front left side of the home on fire and were able to put most of the exterior fire out. Then it was discovered that the melted gas meter was leaking and fueling the fire even more. Crews were able to safely shut down the meter. Though the fire was controlled within 30 minutes, the structure was heavily damaged. The cause of the fire is under investigation. No injuries reported.
