Eagle Closure Lifted at Lynx Lake

Prescott National Forest has lifted the closure restrictions and opened the John’s Tank Trail on the east side of Lynx Lake. The trail has been closed to the public since December to provide protection to nesting bald eagles. Officials say the closure is no longer needed as the young bald eagles have matured enough to leave the nest area and are getting ready to migrate north for the winter. They say bald eagles have used Lynx Lake as a nesting site for the last ten years and for the past six years, have successfully produced young. This year the eagles raised two, both of them male.
