YCSO is asking the public’s help in identifying three suspects that burglarized a vehicle, used credit cards stolen during the burglary and then lead police on a chase up I-17 in a stolen vehicle. Spokesman Dwight D’Evelyn says last Thursday a Sedona tourist returned to their vehicle from a hike off North Loy Butte Road and found a window smashed out and their wallet gone. He says a short time later it was learned two women used one of the stolen cards at a store in Cornville; a man outside the business was seen throwing the victim’s checkbook into the trash. He says they also identified a suspect vehicle. Just after 7 PM, a deputy in the area located the suspected truck driving east on Cornville Road. As the deputy drove close to the truck attempting to read a license plate, it sped off and eventually entered north I17. It continued north until exiting at the Highway-179 off ramp where an assisting deputy was parked. The driver apparently saw the deputy, ran a stop sign and continued north on I17. Deputies initiated a pursuit as the truck’s speed exceeded 90 mph and eventually stopped chasing for safety concerns. He says a short time later DPS located the crashed truck, but the 2-female and 1-male suspects had fled the area. D’Evelyn says the truck itself came back stolen out of North Las Vegas. Drug paraphernalia was found in the truck. Anyone with information on the case is urged to call YCSO or Yavapai Silent Witness.
