Saturday morning, Prescott Fire responded to a wildland fire along Highway-89. Officials say crews found a quarter-acre fire burning along the highway and quickly contained it. What caused the fire is unknown. As crews finished work on the wildland fire call, they were dispatched to a report of a hiker in distress on a trail at Watson Lake. The person reported that they were suffering from a heat related problem, but couldn’t give their exact location. Dispatch was able to use the person’s cellphone to determine their location and direct rescuers to their location. It took crews 45-minutes to reach the person; they gave them water and helped them walk out of the area. The public is reminded to avoid hiking or working during the hottest part of the day and to stay hydrated.
